Kicking off our #PumpkinBeerWeek series with one that is completely new to us, from a brewery we frankly haven’t given enough attention to over the years – Rogue Ales & Spirits out of Newport, OR.

While probably best known for their excellent, always reliable “Dead Guy Ale”, they brew up something really special for the fall season with their GYO Pumpkin Patch Ale. What makes this pumpkin beer different than the sea of black and orange on the shelves? Lots…

GYO stands for “Grow Your Own” and when it comes to this beer, Rogue grew…well, everything. Yes, many breweries are using their own or local pumpkins for their seasonal offerings, but who is using their own hops and barley as well? Probably no one.
