Powell Street 95 Pounds of Wet Hop Goodness

Powell Street Brewery 95 Pounds of Wet Hop Goodness: Another local Fresh Hop beer, this one obtained from Bottle Jockey in Burnaby, this is a Pale Ale brewed at a strength of 6% abv and 30 IBUs featuring both Cascade and Centennial Hops. Now if you recall Powell Street won Canadian Beer of the Year with their 2013 Old Jalopy and they haven’t bottle beer in a long time so it was great to see actual bottles of their beer in liquor stores. I hope this is a sign of things to come!

Aroma and Appearance: It pours a clear copper colour with two fingers of foam and some sporadic bubbles. The aroma is there, but not overly pungent oily lemon, caramel, grassy and a hint of grapefruit.

    • Our local Macro Brewer SABS is actually one of the biggest beer conglomerates in the world owning some big names globally. In South Africa the macro beer of choice is a tie between Lion Lager/Carling Black Label and Castle Lager. Not sure how easily they are found outside SA though…..
