HUB Ace of Spades Imperial IPA

In October of 2007, Hopworks Urban Brewing, or HUB, started up in Portland, Oregon and became the city’s first Eco-brewpub. Their carbon-neutral facility uses fresh, local, organic ingredients and sustainable operating practices to create some of the best world-class beers that you’ll find anywhere.

For this review, I’ll be tasting HUB’s Ace of Spades Imperial IPA. Named for Lemmy Kilmister and his band Motörhead’s popular song and album, Ace of Spades is an award-winning Imperial IPA that has Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial hops added at every point of the brewing process: mash tun, first wort, kettle and dry hop. This massive hop infusion results in a beer that exhibits huge citrus flavour and aroma, along with a citrus and pine bitterness that is robust but finishes clean.
