Vienna-Style Lager, 5.3% ABV
A: Very pretty copper color with spots of darker orange. Thin off-white head.
N: Nice mix of bready malt and spiciness. Hints of black pepper supported by a fruity, cherry-like sweetness.
T: Heavy on the bready, toasted malt flavors. Slight peppery and nutty aspects. True to the description, the hop flavors lean towards spice, especially on the finish, though a hint of citrus does shine through. Very nice balanced.
M: Heavier side of light body with good carbonation. Crisp.
O: I’m terribly ignorant when it comes to this style, so I can’t make a comparison in that sense. I will say that though I’ve never been a big fan of lager-style beers, this is a very tasty brew. It’s fantastically balanced, full of flavors that make me think autumn, and perfect for a relaxing afternoon enjoying the transition of seasons.
