I’m just going to put it out there… I’m not a fan of summer beers. When I think nice beer I think thick stouts, dark ales and the occasional black IPA. When the sun comes out and the air con is cranked up to 11 the dark side of craft beer becomes less appealing and I feel the need for something lighter. To that end I’ve tried a few new brews from my local beer boutique to try and ease my way into spring.

 

Sorachi by Mornington Peninsula Brewery was my first try of a Kolsch style beer and, while it’s definitely not your standard Kolsch, it is brilliant! Brewed with the Japanese Sorachi Ace hop for which it has been named, it has a lemongrass aroma which gives it a unique taste and feel.
