Charles Wells’ DNA – New World IPA (4.5%)


The British brewing industry is experiencing a bit of a change. I am no means the first to notice this or to write about it. In the past few years there was a kind of inevitability about it, and embraced by some and shunned by others. These others? Well, it looks like they want to stake a claim now.

I am of course talking about the Craft Ale explosion in the brewing industry.

In the US, with the brewing landscape consisting of mass produced bland offerings they had a fertile ground to allow smaller brewers taking to their hearts new hops, flavours and processes to reinvigorate the marketplace. The new concoctions often have interesting naming convention and are bottled (in smaller sizes) and in keg. Under pressure and ice cold. These are the formats they come in, much too many peoples’ disgust.
