Review: Left Hand Brewing’s Widdenshins Barleywine Ale

BlackMetalBrandon

Beautiful 22 oz bottle. Attractive pricing. Oak aged- always a selling point for me. I drank this at room temperature. Pours a surprisingly light red-caramel colour. Earthy oak notes on the nose with a yeast-fruit laced scent. Drinks way too easily for the 10.7% abv. Immediate sweet caramelized malt tastes with a medium hop finish. Slightly citrus.. All atop a symphony of oaked flavors. I’ll certainly have to get another of these for an icy day this Winter. Very Scottish-Ale like in flavor and density. My favorite and the most unique Barleywine Ale I’ve had to date!
